Welcome to Mrs. Svobodny's Principal Webpage
I was raised in a small rural community in Iowa called Morning Sun. My dad has been the community's veternarian for fifty-three years and is still working full time. My mother set a good example for me as she was a terrific fifth grade teacher for many years and is now a full time mother and grandmother. I have an older sister who lives in Pittsburgh, an older brother who lives in Colorado and a younger sister who also lives in Colorado. I have two wonderful daughters who live in the Twin Cities ages 27 and 29 who bring me an abundance of joy. My youngest daughter is getting married this December so we are looking forward to this major event with great anticipation! I have a supportive loving husband and four grown step-children and three step-granddaughters. To love and be loved is one of life's best gifts.
After graduating from high school in a class of 14, I went to college at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA where I received my BS Elementary Education degree. After teaching for three years, I received my Masters of Special Education degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, ID. Quite a change from my high school graduating class size! In 2000, I received my Principal Licensure from the University of Minnesota. I have recently completed all my courses toward earning a Doctorate of Education degree from Hamline University. All I have left is to complete my research and write that "little" dissertation which at this point is slow going:)
I began my rewarding journey as an adult in education in 1972 when I taught sixth grade in a middle school in PA. I have also taught first grade, specific learning disabilities, emotionally and behaviorally disordered as well as taught at the college level and been a special education supervisor. I have had the opportunity to teach in a variety of states including PA, TN, IN, VA and MN. I have had the great fortune to be Dover-Eyota's Elementary Principal since 2002. I LOVE being the principal at Dover-Eyota! I believe we have the best students, teachers, staff, parents and community in the state of Minnesota!
If you have questions regarding the elementary school, please feel free to call me at any time at 507-545-2632 or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a rewarding day and thanks for visiting Dover-Eyota Elementary School's website.
