2024-25 School Year:  New Year Brings Many Changes

This year we will see many new changes to the High School / Middle School.  Our building has taken on a new addition in two different areas, and the rest of the building has received new flooring, new lights, and paint.  The building will certainly be brighter, fresher and updated in so many areas.  It will be difficult to find an area that has not changed in some way.  I am sure you will find the changes to be very positive and something we will all be very proud of and proud to say we go to school at Dover-Eyota.

This is the start of my 27th year at Dover-Eyota.  My career path at Dover-Eyota started in 1998 as the Activities Director and Community Education Coordinator.  In 2008 the district chose to move the 6th graders over to the high school building and I was given the opportunity to facilitate that move and add the role of 6th grade principal to my duties. In the 2011-12 school year, my role officially changed to Activities Director and Assistant Principal 6-12.  Another change took place in 2021 as my new role was Assistant Principal; the 2022-23 school year was my first as Middle School Principal, and 2024-25 will be my third year in the middle school principal role.

I grew up in a small central Wisconsin town of 300 people, thus my love for the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers.    As a young man, I really enjoyed school, admired my teachers, and always felt that teaching and coaching was going to be my future career.  I have taught physical education, health education, coached varsity girls’ basketball, varsity baseball, 7th, 9th and JV boys’ basketball as well as 7th & 8th grade softball.

I live in rural Dover with my wife Cindy.  We have two daughters, Mattie Jo and Megan.  Both of the girls are married and living life as adults, homeowners, taxpayers, and gainfully employed. Whew!  They both attended DE, played 3 sports, and, after graduation, used that excellent Dover-Eyota education to graduate from college.  Cindy and I are now grandparents and that is really an enjoyable part of our lives.  Stop me some time and I will show you pictures.

During my free time I enjoy gardening, deer hunting, ice fishing listening to Twins baseball on the radio (I really love baseball) and spending time at our cabin searching the lakes for crappies, bass and big bluegills.

At Dover-Eyota, we participate in the RISE program.  Our students work at being Respectful, Intentional, Supportive, and Engaged each day.  Every day, we have the opportunity to create our own yearbook.  Use each day to add some additional pages.  You will be surprised how much fun your school experience will be.  Once you look back on the year, everything that happened will surprise you.  Become involved, participate, try new things, and expand yourself!  Being uncomfortable and stretching yourself is a good thing.  Let’s expand our yearbook together and have an AWESOME YEAR!

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call or email, we all want you and your child to have a great year.
